Little Things

A group of friends and I were going to take one of our friends out for some ice cream, but first we wanted to get her a bouquet of flowers. We went to the nearest grocery store and got a bouquet of roses. As we were walking out, I saw an older lady with a full cart of groceries. I had the feeling to help her, so my friends and I asked her if we could load her groceries. When we were finished, she thanked us and got in her car and drove away, and we went and had birthday ice cream with our friend.

Later that night when I went back home my mom called me into her room. She asked me what I had been doing for the past couple of hours, and I told her that we had gotten some ice cream and were celebrating my friend’s birthday. She then asked if we had helped someone with their groceries, and I told her yeah, we just put the groceries in her car. Turns out the lady knew my mom and had texted my mom and told her how thankful she was that we helped her with her groceries. Long story short, that lady was have one of the worst days ever and that little act of kindness made her whole day better.

We never know what an impact we can have on other people with just little acts of service. We don’t need to make them a full course meal, buy them hundreds of dollars worth of things, or even clean their whole house for them. Smiling at someone, saying hello to them, talking to them, or even just giving them a hug when they need it. These are all simple things that we can do everyday to just add a little light to someone’s world. These are ways anyone can do to help put a little more Light in the World!
