Pray -- He IS There

I remember a time, years ago, when I attended a girl’s camp hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The camp consisted of multiple groups of girls participating in various activities throughout the day. While my group was engaged with a trust building exercise, I recall glancing to left and seeing my older sister walking down a dirt path with her friend from the ward. Before continuing with the exercise, I remember seeing my sister fall to the ground and begin seizing. I ran to her side as fast as I could, meanwhile the camp director had already begun medical treatment. When I finally reached her I remember the adults trying to keep her still, the other girl's eyes filled with fear, and it felt like everything was moving in slow motion. I immediately turned my back to the chaos and fell to my knees. I began praying, with all my heart, in hopes that my Heavenly Father would spare my best friend’s life and help her be okay. After I prayed, I turned around and I saw my sister laying there conscious, but very weak.

When the paramedics arrived, they rushed her to the hospital and ran a few tests. My family and I had no idea what to expect, nothing like this had ever happened before. When the doctor came in, he told us the brain scans came back perfectly normal and nothing seemed to be wrong. We were all relieved when the doctor told my sister she needed to get some rest, but she could leave later that night.

To this day, I am incredibly to my Heavenly Father for giving me that small trial in order to strengthen my testimony. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers, and I know that he has a plan for each and every one of us. If you are currently struggling with a problem you feel is too large to bare alone, pray to God for help. You are his child, he loves you, and he will help you see the bigger picture.
