Things Will Work Out

Often enough in life, there will be times when you will think that life is much too hard, is not fair, or that you are not able or capable of handling the situations that are thrown at you. Many, many times I have felt the same way throughout the course of my life, and though it hasn't been easy, there is always a way to get through the hard times and into the good times.

Gordon B. Hinckley was a man who's main message was that of perseverance, believing, and faith in knowing everything happens for a reason. A quote that always helps me through hard times given by Gordon B. Hinckley says, "Keep trying. Be believing. Be happy. Don't get discouraged. Things will work out."

When I was at one the lowest points of my life so far, I happened to be reading about Gordon B. Hinckley's life. I was struggling to keep the motivation to move forward, I was struggling to keep the faith that everything was going to work out in the future even though it did not seem so at the time. But when I was reading I came across that quote, "Keep trying. Be believing. Be happy. Don't get discouraged. Things will work out," and I knew in that moment that everything was going to be alright. The the Lord had and still has a plan for me, and knows exactly where he wants me to go.

In a General Conference talk a few months later Jeffrey R. Holland gave a talk and said these words, "Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep growing. Heaven is cheering you on today, tomorrow, and forever." That talk really drove in the fact that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ along with everyone else in Heaven is truly cheering for us and wanting the best for us, and as long as we do our part and do the best that we can, the Lord will do the rest in fulfilling the promise given in Proverbs 3:6, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

I know that life can be hard, and times we all may feel like it's not worth it to try or give it our best effort. However, the Lord knows us and he knows what we are capable of. Someone told me once, "Whenever you feel like the trials and tribulations that you are given are too much for you to handle and God has given you too much, that is never true. God knows you and knows exactly how much you can handle, and will never give you more than what you can take." He will always give you strength to make it through hard times and He will always be there for you when you are in need. All we need to do to receive that help is fall to our knees in prayer and ask for strength and we will receive it.
